Rug Care
Once you’ve found rug perfection, you’ll want to keep it looking new for as long as possible. If you spend just a few minutes per week preening and grooming you rug, you’ll keep that “showroom” appeal.
Vacuuming
If you vacuum your rug every other week with a good suction type vacuum it will prevent dirt and grit filtering into the pile where it can damage the fibre and increase the wear and tear, look and feel. However, if your rug has a fringe, avoid hovering the the fringe as this can cause the fringe to pull and unravel. If you’ve opted for a pure wool rug, expect some natural shedding. Long stray fibres should be cut even with the rug surface, never pull a stray thread.
Give your rug a change of direction, rotate your rug weekly, so that it’s not affected by direct sunlight and receives the same amount of wear and tear evenly.
NEVER beat your rug or use a rotating brush cleaner, as this can cause damage to the backing and loosen threads.
Spills
Oooops! It’s going to happen at some point, wine, tea or coffee will be spilt on your rug centrepiece. After you’ve cursed youself (or others!) act quickly. Grab a clean white cloth or paper towel and dab the spilt liquid. Do not rub, this will cause the spillage to spread.
We then recommend Easi-Step® Wipe Off Carpet & Upholstery Wipes
Easi-Step Wipe Off has a powerful dispersal action to remove most everyday spots and stains including various types of inks, shoe polish, food and beverages.
Take hold of the wipe and remove from the pack. Simply wipe the stain to clean thoroughly then throw away the used wipe. The blotting action lifts the spillage. It is not like other products which sometimes impregnate the stain into the carpet fibres.
Alternatively you can dab with a carpet cleaner until the stain has been removed, pat excess moisture with a paper towel and allow to dry. On stubborn stains, particularly dark stains on a light coloured rug, the cleaning process will need to be repeated.
NEVER use spot cleaner on a wool rug, this will “set” the stain, making it impossible to remove.
Rug Grip
Our range of anti-slip underlay or anti-slip stray is suitable for all carpeted and smooth floors. Using these products will stabilise your rug and prevent crawling, slippage and trip hazards. It also helps cut down on wear and tear of the rug.
